About Me

I am a writer, editor, and photographer primarily interested in the intersections between wildlife, the environment, and humanity.

My work has appeared in The Atlantic, The Center for Humans and Nature’s City Creatures, Atlas Obscura, Hakai, Smithsonian, the Los Angeles Review of Books, Real Life, Men’s Health, and others.

I graduated with a B.A. in English from Santa Clara University. As a research assistant, I co-edited an edition of The Female American with Dr. Michelle Burnham for Broadview Press. From there, I studied Cultural Reporting & Criticism, earning my M.A. in Journalism from NYU’s Carter Journalism School.

Since leaving New York, I’ve worked as a freelancer, a News Editor, an educator, and outside.

If you have thoughts to share, something which you’d like written or edited, an idea I should look into, contact me:

Also, please consider subscribing to my Substack. I publish something there weekly. Much is about birds or birding—which I love. I also write occasional personal essays, sometimes personal essays about birds.
